EVITA Photo Contest
Davidson Community Players is celebrating their upcoming production of Evita June 17–28 by asking members of the community to strike a pose. The Lake Norman-based theatre announced "Don't Cry for Me DCP," a social media promotion inviting the public to channel their inner Eva Perón to receive a 20% off promotional code good for up to four tickets to their production of Evita plus a chance to win a $100 gift card to dine at Link & Pin in Huntersville.
From May 28 through June 11, participants across Charlotte and Lake Norman are challenged to recreate the legendary balcony wave from Evita, an iconic image defining the musical for five decades. The theatre is encouraging fans of the show to post their best Eva Perón power pose on Instagram or Facebook, letting people know they are ready for Evita at DCP June 17–28, and tag @dcplayers (Instagram) or @DCPonstage (Facebook) to enter.
Why This Show? Evita tells the remarkable true story of Eva Perón's unlikely ascent from poverty to entertainment to becoming one of the most powerful political figures in midcentury Argentina. It's ambition, glamour, heartbreak, and unforgettable music all wrapped in one of theatre's most iconic moments.
DCP's production of Evita with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber runs June 17–28, 2026, at Duke Family Performance Hall. This may be one of the last American theatres to stage the classic rock opera before it returns to Broadway in spring 2027. That production is a transfer of the acclaimed West End staging starring Rachel Zegler, who performed the balcony number to a crowd-filled London street.

About the Production
Evita runs Wednesday, June 17, through Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Duke Family Performance Hall. It is recommended for ages 10 and up. Tickets are now available and selling fast, priced $20 to $45 (plus NC taxes and fees).
