Tuesdays 7-9pm
Feb 17 - Apr 21

This 8-session playwriting course welcomes writers of all levels to explore, draft, and refine short original works for the stage. In a supportive, workshop-style environment, participants develop craft, creativity, and community. Writers receive structure, accountability, and guidance throughout the process.

This course will contain:

  • Idea Generation: Weekly prompts and exercises to spark imagination and overcome writer’s block.

  • Draft Development: Build a project with feedback from the instructor and peers.

  • Goal-Setting: Gentle check-ins to support individual writing practices.

  • Workshop Sessions: Share pages and strengthen dialogue, structure, and character.

  • Actor Engagement: Opportunities for actors to read work aloud, helping writers hear their scripts in performance.

  • Culminating Experience: 10-Minute Play Performance: In the final weeks, participants craft a polished 10-minute play. Selected works will be featured in a live reading or staged performance by local actors, giving writers the chance to see their work brought to life.

LEARNING GOALS

  • Grasp fundamentals of dramatic structure and storytelling

  • Practice revision and dramaturgical analysis

  • Gain confidence in sharing and presenting work

  • Build a supportive community of fellow writers

TIMES: The course will take place on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 9:00pm from Feb 17 - Apr 21, with 2 sessions off at the discretion of the class.

EXPERIENCE: This course is open to writers of all backgrounds—beginners, developing writers, and experienced playwrights—who want structure, support, and a collaborative environment to create new work. Returning and new students welcome!
