GET INVOLVED - FAQ's

What if I can’t make the scheduled audition because…?  We make every effort to accommodate scheduling conflicts.  If you have an unavoidable conflict, contact us and we will determine whether there is any other option.

What if I am not available for one or more performances?
It is critical that those cast in our productions are able to make all performances.

How much experience do I have to have?  We value and appreciate experience, but it is not a prerequisite for involvement.  Put your experience to work – or try something new.  All we ask is that you give your best.

What if I don’t have a lot of experience?  There are many levels of involvement with Davidson Community Players productions.  We will do our best to place you in a position where you can be successful.

Do I need to come to both auditions?  Or stay for the whole time?  Unless otherwise noted, it is not necessary to come to more than one first call.  If you receive a call back, you will receive further instructions.  You will need to stay at the audition until the director excuses you.  Sometimes there are several phases, and we want to be sure we see everything we need.

When are rehearsals?  Each production has its own schedule made based on the needs of the production and the availability of the actors cast.  Adult productions typically rehearse Sunday thru Thursday evenings.  Youth productions typically rehearse afterschool and/or on the weekends.  Depending on the size of the role, you may or may not need to attend all rehearsals.

What if I can’t make some of the rehearsals?

You will be asked for any conflicts ahead of time and schedules will be determined according to the director of the production.  It is imperative that you accurately state your conflicts at the audition as this information is then used to create the schedule. Do be aware that being in a play is a big commitment.  If you are already committed to lots of extracurricular activities, it may be best to wait for a time when your schedule is more clear.

What are the auditions like?  If this is your first time, don’t worry!  We will do everything we can to make you succeed and feel at ease.  When you arrive, go to the check in table where you will receive instructions and information. After that, the important thing to remember is to relax and be yourself.
