Marketing and Development Specialist
Davidson Community Players, located in the charming college town of Davidson, North Carolina, is actively seeking a talented and experienced full-time Marketing and Development Specialist to support our successful non-profit organization. Over the past 47 years, we’ve built a vibrant community theater program with youth and adult performances throughout the year. Winner of the 2011 North Carolina Theatre Conference Community Theatre of the Year award, DCP produces consistently high-quality theatre for nearly 14,000 patrons a year.
The Marketing and Development Specialist will report to the Executive Director and directly manage all aspects of marketing, and community relations while assisting the Executive Director in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts. This is a full-time position with an expectation of 32 hours a week in the office with some weekends and nights required for performances and events.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
· Responsible for all areas of marketing and PR including developing press releases for upcoming DCP shows and events, publishing and distributing annual season and production materials, publishing and distributing all marketing materials related to all shows (posters, fliers, etc.), interfacing regularly with local media to build relationships within the community.
· Provides input to Director and Board for all strategic marketing planning.
· In consultation with executive director, responsible for fund development including maintaining and expanding number of corporate and individual donors, leading annual fund campaign efforts, meeting or exceeding fundraising goals and budget requirements, increasing year over year total charitable donation dollars to the organization, and identifying, establishing, and organizing new fundraising opportunities for DCP.
· Leads and expands social media marketing strategies and identifies new social media marketing opportunities.
· Supports the executive director in designing and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of top fundraising prospects
· Assists in supervising volunteers for productions as needed.
· Assists with implementation of Davidson Community Players’ Strategic Plan.
· Attains proficiency in internal data systems and utilizes those systems to satisfactorily track prospects and supporters of DCP.
Qualifications/Attributes:
· Strong writing skills with the capability of obtaining desirable media exposure.
· Knowledgeable in crisis-management, with the ability to manage our local media relationships.
· Demonstrated track record of driving growth in ticket sales and revenues or evidence of successful sales experience.
· Demonstrated track record of building donor relationships and increasing donor revenue, or similar successful sales experience.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Ability to interact well with diverse groups, managing conflict effectively, and achieving consensus across parties.
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task, juggling multiple priorities and delivering results in multiple sectors of the organization.
· Works comfortably in a fast paced environment.
· High comfort level with a small organization setting where associates wear many hats and assist across job functions when needed.
· Can operate with proficiency with MS Office including: Word, Excel, and Access.
Desired Skills and Traits
· Undergraduate degree required.
· Experience in a non-profit development/marketing position, with demonstrated results in fund-raising, grant writing, and marketing, preferably in theatric arts.
· A commitment to building relationships with DCP constituents
· Passion for the arts and for the community we support.
This is a salaried position paying in the low-$30s based on experience. No benefits are provided.

Production Management/Production Assistant
Basic Function:
To provide production assistance and administrative support to the Artistic Director of Davidson Community Players.
Essential Functions:
Work with the Artistic Director in managing summer productions to include:
Production Assistant
Rehearsal Assistant
Possible Props Mistress/Master for summer shows (with support staff/volunteers)
Volunteer management for crew calls
Work on Running Crew for summer shows
Additional Responsibilities (as needed for each production)
Work will commence on June 1 and continue through August 8
Salary for the 10 week period will be a fixed payment of $1,250.00 paid in three equal payments on June 15, July 15, and August 15.

Technical Theatre Intern
Basic Function:
To provide technical support to the Technical Director of Davidson Community Players.
Essential Functions:
Work with the Technical Director including:
Set painting & construction**
Light hang
Run Crew for summer shows
Special Projects & additional responsibilities (as needed for each production)
**Focus TBD based on interest/experience of applicant
Work will commence on June and continue through August 8th
Salary for the 10 week period will be a fixed payment of $1,250.00 paid in three equal payments on June 15, July 15, and August 15.

Davidson Community Players also offers unpaid summer internships in all administrative and production areas. While these positions are unpaid, DCP is willing to work with applicants in securing high school or college credit for this valuable work/learn experience, and will provide letters of recommendation as needed.
