Established 46 years ago, the Davidson Community Players has earned a reputation for excellence. Ranking among the finest non-professional theatre companies in the Southeast, this beloved organization attracts theatre-lovers from throughout the Charlotte metropolitan area and draws an audience of more than 12,000 people in and around Lake Norman each year.
The company’s first, permanent home, the Armour Street Theatre, opened its doors in the fall of 2008. It provides an intimate performance venue for Main Stage productions, as well as a place for educational workshops and the theatre’s energetic, youth program – the Connie Company. In addition to its new home, this talented theatre company also performs annually in the Duke Family Performance Hall, a state-of-the-art theatre on the campus of Davidson College, as well as in a variety of local venues, such as Spirit Square in Charlotte.
In 2007, the organization received rave reviews in the Southeastern Theatre Conference’s American Association of Community Theatre Festival competition in Atlanta, GA with its award-winning production of The Spitfire Grill. The Davidson Community Players has a tradition of producing quality productions that have garnered numerous artistic awards, and has been recognized for financial management.
